Pharmacovigilance Jobs for Freshers in Pune (2026): Eligibility, Salary & Who's Hiring
Pune runs one of India's largest PV job markets — but fresher hiring follows rules nobody prints on the job post. Here's who hires, what they pay, what 'eligible' really means, and the shortlisting bar.
Why Pune is the right city to hunt PV jobs
Pune concentrates more entry-level pharmacovigilance hiring than any Indian city except Bangalore: sponsor-side safety teams, CRO delivery centres, and BPO drug-safety operations all recruit here, and living costs undercut Mumbai by a third. On any given week, portals list dozens of fresher-tagged PV openings in the city — the catch is that hundreds of applicants chase each one, and shortlisting follows rules the postings don’t spell out.
Who actually hires PV freshers in Pune
Sponsor-side pharma — Cipla, Sun Pharma, Lupin, Glenmark, Wockhardt, Mylan/Viatris. In-house global PV teams: ICSR processing, aggregate report support. Fewest openings, strongest brands, heaviest screening.
CROs — Syngene, Veeda, Lambda, IQVIA, ICON, Parexel. The volume hirers: client-project case processing with structured career ladders. Most fresher offers come from this segment.
BPO / delivery-centre drug safety — Accenture, Cognizant, TCS and peers run large case-intake operations for global clients, frequently on US/EU shifts. Easiest entry, slightly lower starting pay, genuine volume — and a legitimate first rung that CROs hire out of after a year.
The full profiles — what each company asks in interviews and which degrees they prefer — are in the hiring companies directory.
What “eligible” actually means
Postings say “B.Pharm/M.Pharm/Life Sciences graduate with knowledge of pharmacovigilance concepts.” Decoded, the shortlisting bar in 2026 is:
- Degree: B.Pharm/M.Pharm/Pharm.D clears every screen; B.Sc/M.Sc, nursing, BDS/BHMS/BAMS clear with evidence of PV training.
- Definitional fluency: AE vs ADR vs SAE, the six seriousness criteria, expectedness — tested in the first ten minutes of every interview.
- Platform exposure: the divider between interview and rejection at the better-paying roles. “Familiar with Argus” on a resume gets probed; candidates who can walk through case book-in → coding → narrative → submission get offers. This is precisely what hands-on training exists to provide.
- Shift readiness: much Pune PV work follows US/EU hours. Deciding your honest answer before applying beats reneging after an offer.
The money, without the YouTube inflation
Entry ₹3.6–4.5 LPA (PV Associate, ICSR Processor), BPO-side ₹3.0–3.6, senior associate ₹5.5–8.0 by year 3–4, specialist/scientist ₹9–14 at years 4–7 — city-adjusted figures for Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad are in the salary calculator and the full PV salary report.
The work-from-home reality
WFH filters on job boards show dozens of “remote PV fresher” listings; most are BPO case-intake on night shifts, and most employers gate remote work behind 6–12 months of measured in-office productivity. PV does become genuinely remote-friendly — at the senior associate and aggregate-reporting levels. If day-one WFH is non-negotiable for you, medical coding has the more honest remote pathway; the CDM route sits in between.
How freshers actually get shortlisted — the 30-day plan
- Week 1: nail the definitional core (the PV interview guide lists the 20 questions that decide offers).
- Weeks 1–4: build platform evidence — process mock cases end-to-end until you can narrate the workflow cold.
- Ongoing: apply within 24 hours of posting on Naukri/Internshala/LinkedIn; fresher listings close in days.
- In parallel: get referred. Warm introductions beat portal applications by an order of magnitude — it’s why our placement process runs on direct hiring-partner introductions rather than job-board forwarding.
