AI in clinical research courses: what actually exists in India.
AI is no longer a future topic in clinical research — safety teams run AI-assisted case processing, sponsors use ML signal detection, and data platforms ship AI features under 21 CFR Part 11 controls. Yet most Indian training institutes still teach a pre-AI syllabus. This guide maps who teaches what, explains the two very different models being sold as "AI courses", and gives you a checklist for evaluating any of them — including ours.
Integrated curriculum vs add-on certificate
AI integrated into the core course
AI topics are modules inside the main syllabus — you learn AI-assisted MedDRA coding inside the pharmacovigilance course, AI-enabled EDC platforms inside the data management course. The AI content lives in the context of the job you are training for, and there is no second fee. This is iLearn CRI's approach — the institute is an ABAIA member's initiative (All Bharat Artificial Intelligence Association), and AI literacy is treated as core professional equipment, not an upsell.
AI as a separate add-on program
A standalone AI certificate or diploma purchased in addition to (or instead of) core clinical research training — formats on the market run from a 10-day bootcamp to a 12-month healthcare AI/ML diploma. This can suit working professionals adding a credential, but check two things: whether the content is clinical-trial-specific or generic healthcare AI, and what the combined cost of core course + AI add-on comes to.
AI modules inside 6 of 12 iLearn CRI courses
This table is generated from the published syllabus of each course — the same source as the course pages — so it always reflects what is currently taught.
| Course | Duration & fee | AI modules in the syllabus |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate in Clinical Research | 3 months · ₹40,000 + 18% GST | Virtual Clinical Trials (Role of AI and ML) · AI in Clinical Research |
| Certificate in PV & Regulatory Affairs | 3 months · ₹40,000 + 18% GST | AI & Automation in Pharmacovigilance · AI in Regulatory Affairs & Regulatory Intelligence |
| Certificate in Clinical Data Management | 3 months · ₹40,000 + 18% GST | AI in Clinical Research · AI in Managing Clinical Data |
| PG Diploma in Clinical Research | 6 months · ₹65,000 + 18% GST | Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Research |
| PG Diploma in CDM | 6 months · ₹65,000 + 18% GST | AI in Clinical Research · AI in Managing Clinical Data |
| PG Diploma in PV & RA | 6 months · ₹65,000 + 18% GST | AI & Automation in Pharmacovigilance · AI in Regulatory Affairs & Regulatory Intelligence |
Alongside the AI modules, every course keeps its regulated-industry foundation — ICH-GCP E6(R3) and hands-on time on Argus, ARISg, ABcube, Veeva Vault Safety, MedDRA, Medidata Rave, SAS — because AI extends that foundation, it does not replace it.
Who else teaches AI for clinical research in India
Compiled from each institute's published pages as of September 2026; sources linked below. Plain-text names only; verify current offerings directly.
| Provider | Base | AI offering | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| iLearn CRI (this site) | Wakad, Pune + live online | AI modules integrated into the core syllabus of 6 of 12 courses | ₹15K–₹65K + 18% GST, published per course |
| CliniLaunch | Bangalore HQ; Pune branch at Kakade Bizz Icon, Shivajinagar | Offers separate AI-branded diplomas (e.g., a 12-month PG Diploma in AI & ML in Healthcare); AI is packaged as standalone premium programs rather than modules inside the core clinical research syllabus (as of September 2026) | Not published (site asks you to contact for the fee structure) |
| Pacifix Research | Sai Radhe Complex, Sangamvadi, Pune | Offers a separate 2-month, fully online AI-in-clinical-research certification (NLP, AI in pharmacovigilance, automated data management); AI is a standalone add-on course rather than integrated modules (as of September 2026) | Not published |
| BCRI | HSR Layout, Bengaluru | Runs a separate 10-day AI bootcamp covering CDM and pharmacovigilance; no AI modules listed inside the flagship PG Diploma curriculum (as of September 2026) | ₹85,000 for the flagship PG Diploma with SAS (published) |
Notably, the large national incumbents in clinical research training listed no AI modules in their published clinical research curricula at review (September 2026) — see our institute comparisons for the detailed pages.
How to evaluate any "AI in clinical research" course
- Ask for the module list in writing. "AI-powered curriculum" in a headline means nothing; named modules in a syllabus do.
- Check it is trial-specific. AI for patient recruitment, ICSR intake, MedDRA coding, signal detection, and CRF design — not generic "AI in healthcare" survey content.
- Check the regulated context. Serious AI content covers validation of AI tools under GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 — because that is how employers actually deploy it.
- Total the real cost. If AI is a separate certificate, add it to the core course fee (and GST) before comparing against integrated programs.
- Confirm the fundamentals are intact. ICH-GCP, PV fundamentals, and data standards still get you hired; AI content should sit on top of them.

AI in clinical research training — FAQs
Do I need AI skills for a clinical research job in India?
Increasingly, yes. Pharmacovigilance teams use AI-assisted case intake and MedDRA coding, sponsors run ML-based signal detection, and clinical data management platforms ship AI features. Freshers who can talk about — and have practised with — these workflows interview better for the same roles.
What is the difference between an integrated AI curriculum and a separate AI course?
A separate AI course is an additional certificate you buy on top of your main training, typically 10 days to 12 months. An integrated curriculum teaches AI topics inside your main course — for example, AI & automation in pharmacovigilance taught within the pharmacovigilance certificate itself. Integration means the AI content is in the context of the job you are training for, at no separate cost.
Which clinical research institutes in India teach AI?
As of September 2026: iLearn CRI (Pune) integrates AI modules into the core syllabus of most of its courses. CliniLaunch (Bangalore) sells separate AI-branded diplomas. Pacifix Research (Pune) offers a 2-month standalone online AI certification. BCRI (Bangalore) runs a 10-day AI bootcamp. Large national incumbents did not list AI modules in their published clinical research curricula at review.
Does an AI module replace core clinical research training?
No — and be wary of any course where it does. ICH-GCP, pharmacovigilance fundamentals, MedDRA, and data management standards remain the foundation employers hire on. AI content should extend that foundation, showing you how the same regulated work is done with AI-era tooling.
